10. Let’s Catch Up
Long time no see! Or maybe more accurately, long time no read…? Either way, I’m aware of the fact that it’s been over a year since my last blog post, which is entirely too long. My senior year of undergrad absolutely flew past; the last few months especially have been a blur. Regardless, I’m thrilled to say that I survived them and am officially a college graduate! I graduated Summa Cum Laude in May with my Bachelor of Music in Music Composition, having successfully completed minors in Honors, Piano, Music Theory, and Music History, as well as defending my Honors Thesis, putting on two degree recitals (on the same day, no less!) and finishing out my four-year college golf career on a wonderful high note.
While I’m incredibly proud of everything that I completed during my time at Nazareth University, I’m really relieved to have some time off now. I’ve taken a couple of much-needed weeks to get back on my feet after graduation before turning my attention back to composing and taking the next big steps: first, the InterHarmony International Music Festival in Italy, and then jumping right back in for my Masters of Music in Composition at Binghamton University (SUNY)!
I’m super excited to meet all my new peers, explore a new area of upstate New York, and continue my studies under some amazing professors. I’m also looking forward to not doing the absolute most during my Masters; I’m committing myself to not joining too many clubs, not playing competitive golf during the school year, and overall not doing much more than class, composing, working, and having some “me” time! I’m confident that I should be able to strike a good balance between everything on my plate because I’m already practicing some new, better habits over the summer.
I’ll be filling in my dedicated blog readers on some more details about things I did this semester—including my senior recital weekend—as well as my trip to Italy earlier this month in upcoming posts, but until then, please check out my recently revived Instagram (@grace.notes), my overall updated website, and subscribe to my YouTube channel that I’m finally going to be putting to use!
